As part of the Together course, we spent a couple of weeks writing lists of what was working and not working in our lives, then we worked on physically and mentally clearing clutter that's preventing us from being creative. Next we were enjoined to make creativity our highest priority and create something. I've been jotting ideas in a notebook, and one idea that emerged was to crochet an afghan blanket, which came as a surprise to me. I have not crocheted anything since I was a teenager, which was quite a while ago now.

In the end, I decided to have a go, and discovered that the idea to make granny squares was really an inspired choice. Almost all the work I've done in recent years has been computer based. I re-discovered how much I really enjoyed the process of making things with my hands. I started off by using some old balls of yarns that I had at home, but was put off by the old fashioned colours, so I bought new yarns in nice, modern colours that make me feel happy. I was also inspired by the 3D floral squares I saw on at Meet Me At Mikes, and I had a lot of fun learning how to make them from a book I had at home. I guess I need to work on trusting my intuition/guidance from within and give ideas a try before being too self critical, however odd they may seem at first.

In the Blogging Your Way course, Leslie from A Creative Mint has been showing us how to take close up photos at home, bearing in mind lighting, angles, f-stops etc. I bought a new camera late last year, but only used the auto setting. I'm such a dummy that I didn't even know what an f-stop was, let alone how to adjust it! Of course, I didn't read the manual.
For these shots, I used the aperture priority mode with f-stop 5 setting for all shots except the first one which was f-stop 10. So here are pictures of my attempt at making granny squares and taking nicer photos! Thanks for looking and hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! :)
